What the installation process looks like
We start with demo and prep - removing the old surface, checking the stringers for looseness, and fixing anything that would cause squeaks under the new treads. From there we install treads, risers, and nosings with construction adhesive and concealed fasteners, then finish with stain (if needed) and a protective topcoat.
Matching your stairs to the rest of your floor
Most homeowners want their staircase to read as a continuation of the floor around it, not a separate project bolted on later. We work from the same stain and sheen as your existing hardwood so the transition from room to stairs looks intentional. If you'd rather have a deliberate contrast - darker treads with painted risers, for example - we'll show you that on a test piece before you order material.

Often, yes. We remove whatever is currently on the treads, inspect the structure underneath, and either build on top of solid treads or replace damaged ones before installing hardwood.
A typical 14-stair job takes 2 to 3 days end to end - demo, install, and finishing. You can usually use the stairs the next morning, with a full cure over about a week.
That's the goal on almost every job. We test the stain on the actual wood species on site before finishing, so you see the real color before we commit to it.
Not with a proper matte or satin finish. If you have young kids or pets in the house, we can add discreet anti-slip strips under the nosing.
